Sharp Energy Solutions Europe Strengthens Commitment to Sustainability through its alignment with Sharp Corporation's 2023 Sustainability Report

  • Latest report from Sharp Corporation outlines progress against its Sharp Eco Vision 2050
  • Solar power-related products integral to reaching long and medium-term goals
  • Emphasis on ethical procurement, transparency, and traceability in the supply chain

Sharp Energy Solutions Europe is reaffirming its commitment to ethical and responsible business practices through its Environment, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles as outlined in the recently published Sustainability Report 2023 from Sharp Corporation. These principles originate from its inaugural report in 2001 and mark a significant milestone in the company’s sustainability journey.

The SHARP Eco Vision 2050, which aims to achieve net zero CO2 emissions by 2050, is an important component of the report.  To achieve this long-term environmental vision, Sharp has recently set medium-term goals to reduce CO2 emissions by 40% by 2030 and by 60% in 2035.

As outlined in the report, Sharp will actively implement sustainable practices to support this Eco Vision, such as installing more solar power systems at Sharp facilities, developing new solar power plants, and continuing to develop more solar power-related products in response to market demand.

Peter Thiele, President of SHARP Energy Solutions Europe: "Doing business and the implementation of our initiatives to achieve our goals in a compliant ESG manner is important to us. We are committed to upholding standards in our operations and hold our suppliers to the same exacting expectations. We are dedicated to sustainability, advocating for human rights, fair labour practices and environmental stewardship. For us, ethical and responsible conduct is not just a legal obligation, it is a moral imperative."

As part of its commitment to forging a sustainable and equitable future, Sharp is delighted to highlight several key milestones in its ESG journey.

Third party evaluations:

EcoVadis Silver Score: Sharp achieved EcoVadis Silver score this year, signifying its exceptional commitment to high-quality sustainability management. This score highlights the company's proactive stance toward sustainability and its foresight in addressing the growing demand for sustainability performance assessments among its business partners.

This improvement puts Sharp two ranks higher than its previous rating, thus illustrating its resolute dedication to healthcare, carbon neutrality, people-centric management, and global innovation.

FTSE4Good Index Series Inclusion: Sharp has been included in the FTSE4Good Index Series for the fourteenth consecutive time. This impressive recognition underscores Sharp's enduring commitment to corporate social responsibility and sustainability, aligning closely with global ESG priorities.

These demonstrate Sharp's continued approach to ESG, emphasising the transparency, sustainability, and ethical business conduct that Sharp Energy Solutions Europe faithfully upholds.
